I just finhished an all-night marathon editing our BIB pages. Today’s changes, apart from some 100 new entries and a bunch of misc corrections, refer mainly to break up the severely swelled pages down to manageable file sizes (pref. bellow 32 kB). This is made, naturally, by creating more, smaller pages, which in turn means editors will have to update most links. As usuall, I tried to make this process as painless as possible, and obsolete pages were replaced by redirectioning lists.
This table summarizes the changes:
António Martins, 15 Dec 2001 and (updated) 27 May 2002
As you know the page bib.html was getting too big and I had it to be splitted for a long time. All entries will be listed on one of 26 alphabetically ordered BIB pages, targeted by its code. For example, the entry [abc99a] will be reached at bib-a.html#abc99a, the entry [xyz66b] will be reached at bib-x.html#xyz66b, etc.
This is done so to enable quick and easy automaticly replacing of relinks to the interested editors: just replace all old references "bib.html#a"s with "bib-a.html#a", "bib.html#b" with "bib-b.html#b", a.s.o. untill "bib.html#z" with "bib-z.html#z". Likewise, when a letter page is split, f.i. "bib-c.html" become "bib-ca.html" and "bib-cr.html", you may update all links to the old page by replacing "bib-c.html#ca"s to "bib-c.html#cq"s with respectively "bib-ca.html#ca"s to "bib-ca.html#cq"s, and "bib-c.html#cr"s to "bib-c.html#cz"s with respectively "bib-cr.html#cr"s to "bib-cr.html#cz"s.

Publisher’s name and place (both of the entry and and of the
entry’s source) are to be futurely split in two fields.
António Martins, 07 Sep 1999
I also plan for a near future cross index table pages, listing the
BIB items in compact link lists sorted by author, date, publisher,
country and subject. This last one will demand active help from all
interested FOTWers to add the relevant keywords.
António Martins, 20 Aug 1999
There are still some new projects to persue (relational db cross
indexes for authors, author groups, publishers, and series, etc.).

When I started editing BIB, in Jan. 1998, we had 40
entries…
António Martins, 28 Jan 2000
The Oct.1998 version is still on line
here
and localy mirrowed here
— 53 entries!
António Martins, 27 May 2002
I have currently in the Excel sheet that makes all this tick
145 entries, but I expect this to grow five or six fold in
the next months — with your help, naturally!
António Martins, 20 Aug 1999
I’ve just updated the BIB database with recent new info, sent
by many FOTWers either to the list or directely to me. We have now
535 entries (plus 22 obsolete entry codes).
António Martins, 28 Jan 2000
Right now we have 966 entries (42 obsolete), but I’m
preparing some 2000 more entries from Jan Oskar’s database — even
if all we have is covered by him, this means about a thousand
entries!!
António Martins, 22 Jun 2001
Right now we have 3131 entries on our database, of which
104 are obsolete, thus 3027 bibliographic entries as of Dec.
2001.
António Martins, 15 Dez 2001
With this new update we have now 11 new pages and 4092
entries (plus 137 obsolete codes).
