I’ve just found that the author used to write
articles about flags in Model Shipwright,
a quarterly magazine published by
Conway Maritime Press of Greenwich.
The ones that I happened to find were 1974 and
1979, and were about Trinity House flags,
Revenue Cutter flags and the WW1 signaling
code based on the Union Jack.
I don’t know whether these were subjects
covered in the book.
