Volcano Art Center
Kilauea, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park,
The Volcano Art Center is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, educational
organization created in 1974 to promote, develop and perpetuate
the artistic and cultural heritage of Hawaii's people and
environment though activities in the visual, literary and
performing arts. Under a cooperating agreement with the National
Park Service, Volcano Art Center presents ongoing programs
in the Park.

77th Maui Country Fair
Maui, September 30 - October 3, 2000
All the rides, games, exhibits, food and fun you grown to
love will be yours at the 77th Maui County Fair opening September
30th and running through October 3rd this year. Residents
can show off their voices in a Karaoke contest or their furry
and feathered friends in the Livestock and Poultry Tent. Other
tents will show entries include Arts and Crafts, Better Living,
a Photo Salon and Homemaking. There'll even be a Spam recipe
contest for junior and intermediate age students on Saturday,
October 2nd.

Halloween
Lahaina, Front Street, October 31, 2000
Commonly known as the "Mardi Gras of the Pacific," this event
draws ten of thousands of people. Event includes a children's
parade, food booths, music and entertainment. The event is
held on Front Street which is closed to traffic for the entire
night. Admission is free.

Ice Carving Exhibition and Competition
Lahaina Cannery Mall, Lahaina, November 27 - 28,
2000
Hawaii's top ice carvers will showcase their talents in the
7th Annual Ice Carving Exhibition & Competition held at
Lahaina Cannery Mall - Hotel chefs, sous chefs and other ice-carving
enthusiasts from Maui and around the State will compete with
an hour-and-a-half to create sculptures from 300-pound blocks
of ice. As a prelude to the competition, on Saturday, November
27, master ice carvers will demonstrate this difficult, but
magnificent art.

Christmas
25th December, 2000
Christmas Fantasyland of Trees at Honokaa is an early showing
of gaily decorated trees. The right Christmas spirit auctions
them off for charity.
The people of Hilo celebrate a New England Christmas in memory
of the missionaries with a christmas tradition. Held at the
Lyman House Memorial Museum, Hilo.
