Betty's Hope was Antigua's first large sugar cane plantation
and it pioneered the island's success as one of the world's
main sugar producers. Located in picturesque and tranquil
surroundings, only two stone sugar mills and the remains
of the stillhouse are left. The plantation was built by
Sir Christopher Codrington, who was credited with developing
the sugar industry in Antigua, and was named after his daughter.
