People
The Hakkas, a minority from the province of Fukien in northern China,
were among the first settlers. The minority are indigenous people.
Taiwan is one of the most densely populated countries in the world
as most of its population lives in the cities.
Language
Mandarin Chinese is the official language in Taiwan. Other dialects
are also spoken. However, not many people can speak English.
Religion
Buddhism and Taoism are the predominant religions in Taiwan. They
practice a mixture of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. The rest
are Christians and Muslims.
