Buddha's Birthday

Elaborate and solemn rituals are held at many Buddhist temples
across the country and lanterns are displayed in the temple
courtyards. In the evening these lanterns are carried in parades.
It is celebrated on the 8th day of the 4th lunar month.

Tano day, the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, is celebrated
with a ritual ceremony to the spirit of Taegwallyong Pass,
shamanistic rites, mask dance dramas, and other folklore events
which are all held in the hopes of a bumper harvest.

of the Republic of Korea on July 17, 1948.

This day commemorates the Japanese acceptance of the Allied
