Wine Festival

Slovac Republic,
Experience one of the spectacular local events, the wine festival. The festival is in celebration of the harvest and is practiced for hundreds of years. The harvest shows how the winemaker takes care of his vineyard for over the year. Once the season comes, friends and familys gather to help pick grapes and taste the first glass of juice.

The festival is an agrotourism regional festival of folk culture in the natural setting of the Hrusov backwoods which, besides folk art )dances and songs) and customs, presents also traditional chores and work at farms and folk crafts, like manual harvesting, bread baking, charcoal burning and wood work, as well as the sights, events and activities which the region offers to tourists.

FolkloreFestival below Polana
Devta, July
Detva, the center of the region, is famous for its FolkloreFestival below Polana. Every year the second week in July the town of Detva invites people to this event which belongs to the most prestigious folklore events in Slovakia. Folk songs and dances, folk costumes and musical instruments, all this awaits you if you visit Detva during the Folklore Festival below Polana. This folklore festival is also accompanied by the presentation of traditional crafts at the fair which takes place in an area of the festival next to the open air theatre.

Christmas

The highlight of the Christmas season takes place on Christmas Eve which is called Stedr� de� (Generous Day) or Stedr� vecer (Generous Evening). The generosity that is referred to on that day is that of God's great bounty. In return for this bounty the Slovaks rejoice and give presents to each other.
