Administration
The constitution of Latvia was adopted in 1922, but it was annulled
after the Soviet occupation in 1940. Now, it has been renewed and
is in force again. Legislative powers are vested in the elected
100 member Saeima. The head of state is the President, elected by
Saeima. The Saeima also appoints the Cabinet of Ministers, headed
by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister holds executive authority.
