Located in the depths of Terengganu is South East Asia's
largest man made lake. With an area of about 12,565 acres
of lush tropical jungle. The lake, with its well-known myths,
has attracted tourists from afar. Peacefully isolated yet
accessible by air or road, Tasik Kenyir is merely 65 km
from Kuala Terengganu's Sultan Mahmud Airport. Tasik Kenyir
makes a fascinating tourist spot with its lush tropical
forest, home to more than 8,000 species of flowers, 25,000
species of plants and trees, and species of other animals.
This magical lake is endowed with an endless and captivating
scenic environment. This enchanting lake, is actually a
series of 12 inter-connecting water bodies. The water system
is also home to numerous aquatic vegetations and 84 species
of freshwater fish. Getting there is easily accessible,
by road to Kampung Belimbing, about 100 km, south west of
Kuantan and then on by boat through the winding Chini river
to Chini town, and then for about 15 minutes ride through
oil palm estate roads to the lake.
