Rising over 1,500 meters above sea-level of Peninsula Malaysia
is Fraser's Hill. Located in Pahang, and named after a solitary
English pioneer, known as James Fraser. The hills actually
consist of seven hills. The architecture of the buildings
are essentially Georgian as it was meant to be a cool retreat
from the humidity of the lowlands for the earlier British
community when Malaysia was still a colony of the British
empire.
Today, it is still a favored destination for anyone wishing
to escape from not only the humidity but also the hustle
of city life. Getting there is easily accessible by traveling
to Kuala Kubu Baharu by the non-expressway old road via
Rawang and Serendah, turning off at Rawang and thereby proceed
northward via the old road or turning off at the Tanjung
Malim exit and proceed southward. Travel for about 40km
until you reach the Gap, which is the control gate for traffic
up the narrow, almost single lane road up to Fraser's Hill,
which is 8km away.
