Passports
A valid passport with entry visa is required for all visitors.A
tourist visa is valid for 15 days only.If visitors are planning
to stay for more than 15 days, an extended stay of 15 days
maximum is available.
Travel by Air
The only port of arrival by air is Vattay Airport in Vientiane,
and Luangpabang Airport. You could also travel by Lao Aviation,
Thai Airways International, Vietnam Airline, The Southern
China Airlines, Silk Air and Malaysian Airlines.
Travel by road
Laos has 18.153 km of national roads, 2.500 km of which are
paved.The most important road is route No 13, which runs north-
south from China to Cambodia. It links Pak Mong in the north
and Khong in the south, passing through major urban areas
of Luangprabang, Vientiane, Savannakhet,and Champassack.
Travel by Boat
The Mekong river flows through 1,865 km of Laos. Although
not navigable in its entirely, it provides a natural means
of transportation over long streches. In addition many tributary
rivers of the Mekong river such as the Nam Ou, Nam Ngum, Se
Don and the others are used for water transportation.
Currency
The currency of Laos is the Kip. There are bank notes of 1
Kip, 10 Kips, 20 Kips, 50 Kips, 100 Kips and 500 Kips.
