China > Shanghai

Shanghai is situated in the east of China's coast and on the Huangpu River, a tributary of the Yangtze River. It is the largest and most populated city in the country as well as one of the largest cities in the world. Shanghai is also China's main center for industry, commerce, foreign trade, science and technology. For these reasons, Shanghai emerges as a popular destination for tourists around the world.

Shanghai's most prominent building is the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, one of the highest towers in the world, stands elegantly on the other side of Huangpu River facing the Bund. It is also a place to panoramic sightseeing, shopping at the tower base and eating at the revolving restaurant. Moreover, the other places of interest in Shanghai are the magnificent Grand Mansion, Longhua Temple and Pagoda and the famous Jade Buddha Temple.

Another great place to visit is the Yu Yuan Garden, the famous ancient architecture in Shanghai. Its charming and exquisite layout, beautiful scenery and the artistic style of the garden are the charm effects of Yu Yuan. Also, it is a great place to shop for traditional Chinese products and jewelery.

The Bund, a miniature of international architecture is another great place to visit in Shanghai. It is situated on the western bank of the Huangpu River. The 1.5-kilometer boulevard is lined with canopy-like trees like Cedars, cassias, and camphor. Flower beds are always blooming beautifully. One will be fascinated by pretty sailing vessels on Huangpu River, the glittering waves, the impressive skyline and green trees laced with beautiful flowers. It is just like a magnificent scroll for every one.

Major airlines serve in and out of the city daily. The Hongqiao airport is about 18km (11mi) from the Bund and it is reachable by bus, shuttle or taxi.
