As China's extant largest and best preserved imperial tomb
complex, it is located at the southern foot of the Changruishan
Mountain in Zunhua County, 125km from Beijing. There are
15 tombs of 5 emperors, 14 empresses and 136 imperial concubines.
Empress Dowager Cixi's tomb is the most luxurious of all.
Inside the complex are not only many coffin chambers but
also more than 1,000 palace hall, tablet towers and stone
elephants together with a good collection of carved stone
art treasures.
