Rich in classical Chinese style and in local Tianjin flavour,
the Ancient Cultural Street by the Tianhou (Heavenly Empress)
Temple was rebuilt in 1986. With an elaborate decorative
archway at each end, the street is flanked by various shops
of Qing architectural style and decorated with over a thousand
water color paintings and 500 carved bricks. The articles
on display are a feast to the eyes. Performances by folk
artists and traditional opera singers are often staged on
the square or in the theatre in front of the Temple.
