Presentation of the municipality

The municipality of Moravce was formed in 1995, seceding from Domzale. The German name of Moravce was Liliemberg, so the coat of arms is canting (from Lilien-burg, the city of the lilly). As in many other cases, Slovenian local names were not used officially until 1918, when they were gradually introduced, but mostly forbidden during the Second World War, to be again reintroduced in1945.

Description of the flag

The flag and coat of arms of Moravce were presumably adopted between 1995 and 1998.

The symbols were designed by Valt Jurecic of Heraldika d.o.o. and Heraldica Slovenica, who kindly provided drawings from which the images shown on this page were made.

The flag is a rectangular in ratio 2:5, vertically divided blue-white-blue, the middle white field being square and containing the attributes from the coat of arms, that is the red tower from which is rising the fleur de lis.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms can be blazoned as:

Argent on a mount vert a tower embattled gules from which is issuing a semi fleur de lis azure gorged or and fleury of diamonds gules.

Vertical flag

If prescribed, the vertical version of the flag would probably have the emblem rotated appropriately.
