The economical boom of Domzale started in the middle of the XIXth century with the production of ware made of straw. Panama hats were typical. Therefore it was deemed appropriate to show the wreath of straw on the coat of arms.

The coat of arms and flag were adopted by decisions Skiep o
sprejemu predloga Odloka o grbu in zastavi obcine Domzale v prvi
obravnavi, nr. 13, 1996. and Odlok o grbu in zastavi obcine
Domûale, nr. 14, 1996. published in the local official
gazette Uradni vestnik Obcine Domzale.
In 1999 a new municipal Statute Statut Obcine Domzale, Uradni
vestnik Obcine Domzale, 7/1999 was adopted which included these
decisions in article 7, as follows:
The Municipality of Domzale shall have its coat of arms, its flag
and its muniicpal Day.
The coat of arms of the Muicipality of Domzale shall be three
interwoven corn ears on a blue field.
The flag of the Municipality of Domzale shall be blue (colour HKS
44K) with yellow (colour HKS 5K) interwoven corn ears.
[...]
What is not clear from this description is that the flag has a vertical yellow line dividing the flag field making a square part at hoist that contains the attribute from the coat of arms.
The symbols were designed by Valt Jurecic of Heraldika d.o.o. and Heraldica Slovenica, who kindly provided drawings from which the images shown on this page were made.

The municipality of Domzale adopted its first coat of arms in 1989/90, but abandon it afterwards, and then successively adopted four more different coats of arms. All of them were eventually dropped, and the municipality appointed Valt to design a sixth coat of arms, which was adopted unanimuously by the 19 delegates of the Assembly. In reality, until 1996, Domzale used the coat of arms of Ljubljana.
The two shades of yellow used in the artistical representation of the coat of arms are artistical license, usual in heraldry, but not blazoned.
