2/777-8741. This house named for Mathilde Urratia, the lover
with whom he lived his final years, was designed by Pablo
Neruda himself. Visits are by appointment only, allow you
to step into the extraordinary mind of the poet who has
been called an "organic architect": winding this way and
that around the hillside is a path through the garden, leading
to a library stuffed with books, a bedroom in a tower, and
a secret passageway--all filled with the collections of
butterflies, books, seashells, bowsprits, wine glasses,
and other odd objects that inspired Neruda's poetry. Hours:
Tues-Sun (10am-1pm) (3pm-6pm) Admission and fee for tour.
