The design of the old and new Parliament Houses follows
that of the traditional fale fono (or 'round house'), where
the chief and orators meet to discuss the management of
the village, including the delegation of tasks and the resolution
of village issues. The new building was opened in 1972.
The Ombudsman now uses the old Parliament House.
