The Pothong Gate ison the bank or River Pothong at the
approach to Chollima Street. It was the west gate of the
Walled City of Pyongyang. When Koguryo built the wall in
the mid-6th century, that wasn't the only time he had to
rebuild it. In fact, the wall had to be rebuild several
times. It was destroyed in the last Fatherland Liberation
War. The present gate was rebuilt with construction of Chollima
Street. In order to match the new street, the original site
was moved 55m to southeast.
