Mal้ (pronounced `Mar-lay') is the unique capital city
of Maldives. It is clean and tidy with mosques, markets,
a maze of small streets and a certain charm all its own.
It is made up of four atolls - the North and South Mal้
Atoll, Gaafaru and Kaashidhoo Atolls.
Only 12 of the 80 islands are inhabited. The Mal้ International
Airport is located on the island of Hulhule. The biggest
concentration of resorts is in North Mal้ Atoll, which is
very well known as a diving and surfing haven. The eastern
reef of North Mal้ is also a haven for surfers, especially
the reef called the "Cokes" in Thulusdhoo.
The Cokes is justifiably named as Thulusdhoo is not only
a centre of commercial activity, it is also most famous
for its Coca Cola bottling plant.
