Nara Park, also known as Deer Park, was formerly a wasteland
which was turned into a park in 1880. Many deer roam and
graze freely at this park. One of the highlights of a visit
to Nara is to feed the tame deer with special deer feed.
Many of the historical relics of Nara, namely the Todaiji
Temple, Kofukuji Temple and the Kasuga Taishi Shrine, are
also located in and around this tranquil wooded park.
