Wasai Kandal is one of the few established places in Brunei
where one can walk through the jungle in one direction for
an hour or more. A wide path has been cleared and steps,
bridges and handrails make the walk easy, safe and as well
as scenic for visitors.
Located approximately 10km from Bandar Seri Begawan in
Mukim Kilanas, Wasai Kandal is known for its series of pools.
The first called Air Terjun(the low fall) is situated 360
metres from the road. From the first fall, the path leads
on to Tasek Laboi. This small lake lies silent and inaccessible
among the tall trees, its dark water protected by a barrier
reef.
Wasai Lumut Lumpan is the second pool, where there is also
a small waterfall. A short distance beyond Lumut Lumpan
lies another small pool called Wasai Dang Umai.
The path continues to descend rapidly towards Air Terjun
Tinggi from a point near the tops of the trees which grow
vertically upwards for a hundred feet or so from the forest
depths.
From Air Terjun Tinggi the path continues to descend out
of the shadows into light, until one reaches the last and
biggest pool, also named Air Terjun Rendah.
