The Field Studies Centre is located near Kuala Belalong,
within the Batu Apoi Forest Reserve. This research center
is a joint venture project between Brunei Shell Petroleum
and Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
The centre is a focal point for teaching, training and research
into the lowland tropical forests of Brunei. It provides
facilities for fieldwork at both university and secondary
school level, goverment departments and bona-fide overseas
scienties. The centre can accommodate up to 24 people.
The trip to the Field Studies Center, takes up to two and
a half hours of pushing and pulling the long boat up to
a jungle river over series of 25 rapids. Once the journey
is accomplished the beautiful site proves to be a natural
wonder.
