Bandar Sri Begawan City Guide

Brunei > Bandar Sri Begawan
Brunei is located at the northwest corner of the island of Sabah. It has a land border with the Malaysian State of Sarawak and a coastline along the shore of the South China Sea, encompassing a total area of 5,765 square kilometers.

The capital, Bandar Sri Begawan that is located in the Brunei- Muara district, is the center of Brunei's goverment and businesses. This most populated district is also Brunei's prime attraction places.

Brunei offers a wide variety of attractive places, from adventure quests to leisure walks. Few of the best recreational theme park in Brunei are the 'city forest' Tasek Recreational Park, the Wasai Kandal and the multi- million dollar beach- front playground Jerudong Park. There are some great beaches like the Serasa Beach and Muara Beach.

As Brunei is rich in culture and heritage, it preserves the buildings and traditions well. The Royal Regalia Building, Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Brunei Museum and the Istana Nurul Iman are the major places of rich architecture and heritage.

One of the fascinating places to go in Bandar Sri Begawan is Taman Mini Perayaan Kampong Parit, the 'miniature' Brunei park representing Brunei and its local people. But, for Brunei- Muara's best spot the 'Asian Venice', Kampong Ayer or Water Village. Small houses or villages are villages linked by bridges and only accessible by boat or through the wooden bridges.

Getting There and Moving Around

By road

Public transportation like bus and cab services are available to Seria and Belait at the bus terminal.

By sea

Water transportation is vital to the dwellers as well. Bandar Sri Begawan has a local port which services passenger vessels and water-taxis to towns like Kampong Ayer and Belait.

Moving Around

There are 3 bus lines in Bandar Seri Begawan - Central Line, Circle Line and Northern Line. Otherwise, metered taxis are available or, the reasonable price City Transport Service (CTS) cabs.
