From the site of Ukrainian Heraldry:
"A shield per fess with azure and vert. In the upper part there is a azure covered wagon and a sable plough which signify half-nomad life of nagaiski settlers in the district and tilling the soil by the others. In the lower part you see a sable anchor to signify the neighborhood of the sea. The shield is crowned with an argent mauerkrone with three embattlements and was put on two or anchors connected by the gules ribbon".

The Town

"It appeared in the second quarter of XIX century as a settlement of Zaporozhian Cossacks who came back from Turkey. In January 1842 it got the status of a town".
