The modern coat of arms was approved in July 22 1997. In a vert
field there is a azure falcon with open wings, under it there is
Mercury's staff, on the sides there are the azure rhombus with an
edge turned to the end of a crozier; under it there is a or
Cossack cross. The authors are: A. V. Shmrai, M. M. Omelchenko,
V. M. Abramov, S. S. Cherneta.The azure rhombuses symbolizes the
salt-works. A cross represents the Cossacks, who protect the
salt-workers and base the settlement which later became the town.
The Mercury's staff represents the trade specifity of town and
its belonging to Slobozhanshchina (Kharkivshchina). A vert colour
(the colour of the nature) emphasizes the function of town as the
resort. The falcon symbolizes a song "Dyvlus' ya na
nebo", the author of this song - Michaylo Mykolayovich
Petrenko - is the native of the town.
