Presentation of the municipality

The municipality of Vodice was formed in 1995. The placename itself can be tentatively translated as "waters" or "wells", in any case the root of the word water is clearly sensible. Therefore it is not unlogical that the coat of arms is canting, by usage of the geological symbol for underground waters (semy of fesswise billets).

Description of the flag

The coat of arms and flag are prescribed by decision Odlok o grbu, zastavi in prazniku Obcine Vodice, adopted on 21 August 1996, and publmished in the official municipal gazette Uradno glasilo Obcine Vodice. The decision came in effect on the 15th day following the release of the official gazette.

The flag is described very vaguely and it is not easy to reconstruct it from the description. I have done that by interpreting the description in the most straightforward way, but it may well be that I missed something.

The decision says (article 10): The flag is rectangular with ratio of horizontal and vertical edges 1:2. The field is divided into upper blue and lower yellow field in vertical ratio 1:2.5. The coat of arms is integral part of the flag, and it is set so that the wavy line is in the same time the edge between blue and yellow field. The detailed picture of the ratio of the flag fields and the code of the colours are an integral part of this proposal. [sic!]

The decision describes the coat of arms as being on a shield of modern shape. It describes the symbolic of the water as said above with note that "according to the opinion of Mr Dr. sci. [= Ph.D.] Otorepec, it can be classified into category of canting arms". Furthermore, it states that the yellow field represent the sun, energy and rich fields.
