An article in Vexilologie 86 [vex]
were published four proposals for Chuvachian flag.

It’s about rejected proposals for a new chuvashian
flag, submitted in or before 1992, when the
current one was approved.

coat of arms in the centre. Light yellow field with stylized plough.
Above is a women hut, bellow is wheat and hop Ivory field with narrow santal (redbrown)
stripes and symbol of the
Universe in the centre in santal too. Octagonal ivory shield with symbol
of the Universe in the centre in the
color of the santal wood. Yellow flag with red stripe near hoist
(1/3 of the width) with black
ornament. Octagonal shield with symbol of the

On yellow shield a purpur tree — symbol
of the Chuvash rebirth. Yellow oak branch
and blue ribbon with "We was, we are, we
will". This design was recommendated by
government.

This was the one indeed
aproved, but with
some modifications. The three-suns-oak motive
was used well before 1992: I saw it as the
logo of a (chuvashian) governmental publishing
house, still during soviet time.
