Overview

This city of 33,000 was founded in 1823. The blue colour on the flag represents the sea bordering Hatillo, the yellow represents the material and artistic wealth of the town, and the green represents the vegetation of the fields throughout the territory of the city. Hatillo is in northwest Puerto Rico

According with a publication of the MUNICIPALITY OF HATILLO, PUERTO RICO the correct flag of this town consist of a three equal bands:
1- The superior Green band simbolize the vegetetion of the mountains and field of Hatillo,
2- The middle yellow band represent the artistic and material riches of the peoples of Hatillo.
3- The ligth blue inferior band simbolize the sea .

I'm from Hatillo, Puerto Rico. I must inform you that you have the flag of my town upside down. I have a site about Hatillo at <http://www.galeon.com/hatilloweb/> and before I published it I went to the "Oficina de Turismo" and assurred myself of the correct position of the flag and was told that the blue stripe is the first stripe. See my page about Hatilo symbols at <http://www.galeon.com/hatilloweb/simbolos.html>.

WRONG Flags According to Web Sites

Wrong flag based upon http://www.xsn.net/angelortiz/bandera_de_hatilo.html (defunct)

Wrong flag with inverted colors

Wrong flag according to the image at Lexjuris site and pueblos-de-puertorico.com site (defunct)
by Thanh-Tâm Le, 12 January 1999

Hatillo -- the text says that the stripes are equal but in the image there is a thiner middle stripe. I made two images: No. 1 following the text (probably more reliable, if less telling) and No. 2 more like the image.
Thanh-Tâm Le, 12 January 1999

The flag at pueblos-de-puertorico.com site (defunct) is identical to the one at ,Lexjuris site so the discription on the last page must be erroneous.
Jarig Bakker, 1 Febuary 2000

The text at Lexjuris site says: "The flag consists of three equal stripes" , which is obviously not so.
Antonio Martins, 1 Febuary 2000

The most common error in those sites is unknowingly presenting the flag upside down, so inverting the colors in the vertical direction -we may see this in Hatillo
