Heerjansdam municipality

Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 3.590; area: 6,39 km². Settlements: Heerjansdam (seat), Kleine-Lindt.
Heerjansdam was named after Jan van Rosendaele, who became lord of “Heeren Heynen ambacht” (as it was called up till then) on 25 Nov 1368.
Flagdescription: Three equally wide horizontal stripes green - yellow - black with on green a yellow lozenge, on yellow a black one and on black a green one.
This flag was adopted by municipal resolution on 20 Mar 1962. The colors and lozenges have been derived from the municipal arms; the color yellow symbolizes the important rôle of water in this municipality. The placement of the lozenges reminds of the position between the rivers "Oude Maas" and "Oude Waal".
