Municipal flag

On the 01 July 1970 Axel, Koewacht, Overslag and Zuiddorpe merged to form the new municipality of Axel, the flag in use is the same as the former municipality of Axel.

The CoA was adapted slightly after the merger in 1970. The lion got dressed up a bit, by giving him a golden crown and golden nails, he know has a red tongue and a golden collar with a cross around his neck. The CoA was approved by Royal decree on 17 June 1970.
