Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 17.011; area: 118,50 km². Settlements: Olst (seat), Boerhaar, Boskamp, Den Nul, Duur, Eikelhof, Elshof, Fortmond, Hengforden, Herxen, Marle, Middel, Welsum, Wesepe, Wijhe.
Olst-Wijhe is the result of a merger of the former municipalities of Olst and Wijhe on 1 Jan 2001; it was first named Olst; on 1 Jan 2002 it was renamed Olst-Wijhe.
The flag (adopted ?) was designed after the municipal logo.

Adopted by the municipal council on 27 Jan 2003, under consideration of the High Council of Nobility. After the forming of the municipality it was decided not to adopt a coat of arms, but since then the decision was reconsidered.

Flagdescription: three vertical stripes yellow - white - green, of which the width relate as 3:3:6, while the white stripe is bordered black.
This flag was adopted on 4 Sep 1962 by municipal resolution. The wavy stripe symbolizes the IJssel, running northwards through the municipality; yellow points at the sandy soil; green at the meadows. The colors are derived from the municipal arms.

Flagdescription: Three equally wide stripes of yellow, white and green.
This flag was adopted on 18 Jul 1960 by municipal resolution at the occasion of the celebrations of 1000 years existence of Wijhe. The colors are derived from the municipal arms.
