Alvarado

Alvarado is located in the Gulf of Mexico coast in the State of Veracruz-Llave, between Coatzacoalcos and Veracruz (city): 18º46' Lat Northt; 96º46' Long W.
It is said, Alvarado was founded as San Cristóbal de Alvarado about 1600 by Spaniards who reached the region since 1568. They dedicated to the agriculture and livestook growing. Alvarado is famouse because of its several oil refineries and the fishing of shrimp.

Alvarado was part of the Departamento del Golfo. The Ca. 1923 registration flag was a vertical divided flag into white (hoist) and blue (fly) and a blue square in the canton.
