I have scanned and cleaned the Malawi President's flag from Pavillon
2000.

Red flag with yellow lion passant (but not guardant) langued and armed
black and below it a yellow scroll reading MALAWI.
I fancy this flag is inspired at least partially by the previous coat
of arms of Nyasaland (the other part of
this same arms gave inspiration for the rising sun), but this may be far
fetched.
