Pascal Gross, 10 September 2000The brightness on a square is symbolizing fertile land and richness earth of Chollanam-do Province.
The upper symbol express forever powerful life and hopeful sun which is rising between sca billow and green nature.
The middle symbol express heaven's blessing, beautiful nature of Chollanam-do Province.
The lower symbol means development of point to ocean and challenge mind of people of Province point to the future.
The green nature and the blue sea are express soft and lenient mind of people living in the enough tradition and art place of Chollanam-do Province.
The white ground means clean and pure of people Chollanam-do Province.

Province Flag
The flag is divided into yellow and dark blue where the 'yellow' represents the earth and the agriculture-orientation of the Province, and the 'blue' represents the waters, as the Province is surrounded by then sea on three sides. The 'yellow' and the 'blue' meet in the middle to represent the meeting of the ocean and the land striving towards eternal prosperity. The leaf of the rice plant represents the city. The grains of the rice plant represents the solidarity and unity of the districts (Kun), while the fish represents the marine products of the Province. The symbol represents 'C' of 'Cholla', which stands for the abundant and progressiveness of the industrial aspect of the Province and 'N' for 'Namdo or South' and the (anchor) which stands for the waters and the marine development of the Province.
