This is the municipal flag of my town, Varazze, Italy, Liguria
region. The flag is in official use and hoisted on pubblic
buildings, on the city hall , alone or near the national flag. It
derives from the coat of arms of the town: a green field
rappresenting the sea (verde mare), with a white V letter. This
part of the coat of arms was in use from the XII th century, when
the commune was created (Comunitas varaginensis). After, in the
XVI th century, the Genoa top was added to rappresent the
agreement with the Genoa Republic. The correct proportions of the
flag are 2 : 3, like the Italian national flag.
