The International Skating Union (ISU) was established in 1892. It covers several types of skating:
International Skating Union Website, September 2001.
The flag of the ISU was hoisted over the skating hall during the
European Championships of Figure Skating, which took place this
week in Bratislava (Slovakia).
It is a blue field with the 'logo' of the ISU in the middle.
The 'logo' is in fact the white letters ISU, as they can be see on
the ISU Web page, put on a light blue
map of the world with a few parallels and meridians in white.
I have not been able to see the 'logo' accurately because the cameras,
understandably, followed the skaters rather than focusing on the ISU
flag.
Ivan Sache, January 28, 2001.
I have seen the ISU flag (in person and on TV) at numerous skating
events. The flag never included the meridians and parallels on the
"globe", and their current logo seems to have eliminated them altogether.
The logo can be seen either blue on white or white on blue. The flag has
white letters, on a blue circle, bordered white, on a blue flag.
The flag seems to be made to suit local proportions, e.g. 1:2 in Canada,
4:1 in Switzerland. I have enclosed my drawings of these two versions.
