Here are the rules of the International Francophonie Games Committee (CIJF) relating to their Emblem, Flag and Anthem. Next is a graphic showing an approximate representation of the Francophonie Games Flag. The Francophonie Games are a relatively new quadrennial competition that is the French equivalent of the Commonwealth Games. The Francophonie Games are unique in that they have competitions in the arts as well as in sports.

Le Comité International des Jeux de la Francophonie (CIJF)

  • Article 13 : Logotype international
    Il est composé de l'emblème international surmontant l'inscription Jeux de la Francophonie Arts et Sports.
    L'emblème international traduit le regroupement, l'universalité, le rythme et les arts. Il associe l'emblème de la Francophonie d'une mesure à quatre temps symbolisant les concours culturels.
    Un document intitulé "Règles et normes régissant la reproduction du logotype des Jeux de la Francophonie" est déposé au siège du CIJF.

  • Article 14 : Logotype national
    Il est composé de l'emblème national surmontant une inscription spécifique à l'édition considérée.
    L'emblème national associe l'emblème de la Francophonie à un autre élément distinctif, choisi par le CNJF.
    Le logotype national doit être soumis au CIJF pour approbation avant usage.

  • Article 15 : L'hymne
    L'hymne des Jeux de la Francophonie est intitulé "La lumière qui nous unit". Sa partition est déposée au siège du CIJF.
    Hymne des Jeux de la Frrancophonie L'Agence Intergouvernementale de la Francophonie, le Comité International des Jeux de la Francophonie et Radio France International avaient organisé en 1988 un concours qui permettrait de révéler l'hymne officiel qui serait le plus représentatif des Jeux de la Francophonie.Les œuvres de ce concours " ouvert à tous les ressortissants des pays ou gouvernements ayant en partage le français " (art. 1 du règlement), devaient en outre s'inspirer des thèmes suivants : le rapprochement des peuples, le respect mutuel, la paix et la solidarité.Un jury international réuni à Paris en 1989 a choisi l'œuvre du luxembourgeois Jang LINSTER " La lumière qui nous unit ", décrétée en conséquence hymne officiel des Jeux de la Francophonie.

  • Article 16 : Le drapeau
    Le drapeau des Jeux de la Francophonie est un rectangle à fond blanc sans bordure. En son centre est situé l'emblème international des Jeux. L'espace réservé autour de l'emblème équivaut à environ 15 % de la hauteur de ce dernier.

  • Article 23 : Cérémonie d'ouverture
    Aussitôt retentit l'hymne des Jeux de la Francophonie pendant que le drapeau des Jeux est lentement hissé au mât élévé dans le stade.

  • Article 25 : Cérémonie de clôture
    Pendant cette cérémonie, le drapeau des Jeux de la Francophonie est hissé au mât central.
    Après le discours de clôture du Président du CIJF, une fanfare retentit puis, aux accents de l'hymne des Jeux de la Francophonie, le drapeau des Jeux est lentement ramené du mât d'honneur et remis au représentant du prochain pays hôte.

  • Article 13: International logo It consists of the international embleme over the inscription "Jeux de la Francophonie Arts et Sports". The International embleme represents the regrouping, the universality, the rate/rhythm and arts. It associates emblème of Francophonie of a four-four time symbolizing the cultural contests. A document entitled "Rules and standards governing the reproduction of the logo of the Francophonie Games" is deposited with the head office of the CIJF.

  • Article 14: National logotype It is consists of the national embleme overcoming an inscription specific to the edition considered. National emblème associates emblème of Francophonie another distinctive element, chosen by the CNJF. The national logo must be subjected to the CIJF for approval before use.

  • Article 15: The anthem The anthem of the Francophonie Games is entitled "the light which links us". Its partition is deposited with the head office of the CIJF. Anthem of the Francophonie Games The Intergovernmental Agency of Francophonie, the International Committee of the Francophonie Games and International Radio France had organized in 1988 a contest which would make it possible to reveal the official anthem which would be most representative of the Francophonie Games. This contest "open to all the nationals of the countries or governments having divides French of them" (Article 1 of the payment), were moreover to take as a starting point the the following topics: the bringing together of the people, the mutual respect, peace and the solidarité. An international jury at this meeting in Paris in 1989 chose the Luxemburg composer Jang LINSTER's "the light which links us", issued in consequence official anthem of the Francophonie Games.

  • Article 16: The flag The flag of the Francophonie Games is a white rectangle à.fond without edge. In its center international emblème of the Games is located. The space reserved around emblème is equivalent to approximately 15 % height of this last.

  • Article 23: Opening ceremony At once the anthem of the Francophonie Games resounds while the flag of the Games is slowly hoisted with the mast élévé in the stage.

  • Article 25: Closing ceremony During this ceremony, the flag of the Francophonie Games is flown from the central mast. After the closing speech of the President of the CIJF, a brass band resounds then, with the accents of the anthem of the Francophonie Games, the flag of the Games is slowly lowered from the mast of honor and given for the representative of the next country host.
