Description

Regional Council Drom-Ha'Sharon (South Sharon) is situated in the centre of the country, unites 31 settlements with 21,000 inh. It was established in 1980. The Regional Council emblem combines three elements representing the three former Regional Councils which were merged into it:

  • Yarkon: the Yarkon River
  • Mif'alot Afek: Antipatris Fort
  • Ha'Sharon Ha'Tikhon: citrus tree
The letter I received from the Regional Council said nothing about the flag, but in the attached brochure there is a photo showing two flags, one on orange background and the other on green background. The Regional Council was established by uniting three small former Regional Councils:

  • Yarkon, named after the river;
  • Mif'alot Afek (meaning Afek Plants), Afek is where Antipatris Fort and Yarkon springs are, was the start of the water pipeline plant Yarkon-Negev, hence the name, and
  • Ha'Sharon Ha'Tikhon (Central (lit. Mediterranean) Sharon).
