Presentation of the city

Montmélian is a city of ca. 5,000 inhabitants. It was formerly a fortified city because of its strategic location in the so-called Combe de Savoie, the upper valley of river Isère. The fortress was one of the most redoutable in Europe, and was destroyed by order of Louis XIV in 1706.

Description of the flag

he flag is red with a Savoy cross (white on red) placed along the hoist and extending over 40% of the flag length. There is no fimbriation between the red field around the cross and the main field.
