I spent some days in Cantabria in August 2000. Santander, capital city of that single-province autonomous community, has a flag of white over blue with the coat-of-arms on its centre. I found a coat-of-arms at the city's official website. The coat-of-arms on the flag has an elaborate cartouche, unlike the one shown by Eduardo Panizo in his website.

I spent some days in Cantabria in August 2000. Santillana del Mar ("the most beautiful village in Spain", according to Jean Paul Sartre) has a red flag with two parallel, widely separated, thin green stripes going from the top hoist to bottom fly, and a small coat-of-arms on the top fly. On the flag samples I saw (displayed at the town hall and the nearby Parador Nacional for instance), the stripes were much thinner than in Eduardo Panizo's image and I do not recall any yellow fimbriations.

I spent some days in Cantabria in August 2000. San Vicente de la Barquera, very near the border with Asturias, has a light blue-white-light blue vertical tricolour with the arms (circle-shaped) on the middle stripe.
