Presentation of the party

AKEL stands for Anorthotikon Komma Ergazemenou Laou.

The Progressive Party of the Working People - AKEL was created on April 14, 1941 and constitutes a continuation of the Communist Party of Cyprus whose founding Conference was held on August 15th, 1926, in Limassol.
