About the Flag of Palmeira

The flag was created by law no. 301 of 24 February 1955. The lower half of the flag is green (for the vegetation of the area) with a white lamp in the lower fly, recalling the words of the Baron do Tibagy, "I want to leave a light for my family." In the upper half, the blue stripes represent the sky and the four white stripes are for the peaceful spirit of the people of Palmeira. In the white canton, the green palm tree (palmeira) signifies the name of the municipality. The five stars of the Cruzeiro do Sul (Southern Cross) represent the Christian beliefs of the people.
Note: The image follows the written description as to numbers of stripes and relative size of the green area, as the image on the municipal site seems to be a primitive-style artistic rendition rather than a precise depiction of the flag as legally defined.
