About the Flag of Arapongas

The flag of Arapongas can be seen at the official municipal website, without any explanation. But the same site, on another page, describes the bird for which the city is named, the araponga (four different species of the genus Procnias), a passeriform bird with a strident song known as the "sentinel of the forest." Three of these birds are depicted in white on the upper portion of the flag, which is blue, with the bottom portion golden-yellow. Arapongas also uses the nickname "city of birds."
