Description of the flag

Buggenhout (14,000 inhabitants) is located in the arrondissement of Dendermonde.

The flag is: Party per pale, Azure and Or, inescutcheon party per pale, I Argent, a bend of five diamonds Gules, II Sable a lion rampant Argent, crowned of the same. Proportions are 2:3.

The coat of arms is described (in Dutch) on the municipal website, with only the Argent lion on Sable. On the same site is the flag with the same description as above, but no explanation of the red lozenges.

The flag was adopted on 12 May 1992.
