The flag of the short-lived Republic of Armenia (1918-1921) was horizontally divided red-blue-orange, with proportion 2:3. The same flag was reestablished in 1990, but with proportion 1:2.
The flag was designed by Father Ghevont Alishan.
It is quite clear that the red-green-blue should be vertical since it
was inspired by the French Tricolore. In
Crampton's book ([cra90]) where I
first saw it, it was a picture of a miniature flag and the colors
were vertically displayed. There was also the word ARMENIA written
in white on it from lower hoist to upper fly, but it did not seem to
be part of the flag.
I must add that I also saw those colours on a decorative licence
plate: an unidentified badge on white, with vertical stripes on each
side: blue-red-green and green-red-blue.
